Bridging Futures

Each day our young adults will take part in meaningful programming that will support their individual Life Plan goals. They will have the opportunity to continue enhancing their life skills for the home and the community, ensure that they maximize their use of technology, focus on health and wellness and hopefully find life-long hobbies and leisure activities. In addition, each participant will have the opportunity to focus on one of our three program streams – volunteerism, employment or community integration.

Life Plans & Life Coaching

By using person-centered practices, the CQS Centre will ensure that participants are truly listened to and will place them in the driver seat during the goal-setting and decision- making process. Our organization wants to ensure that we focus on what matters to the people we support and their families. We take a team approach to Life Planning – Young Adult, Family Members, Life Planning Coordinator and others as appropriate.

The CQS Team will embrace program individualization for every young adult through personal planning, goal setting, assessment and feedback by the appropriate team that surrounds each individual.

Life Planning Coordinators

Upon acceptance to the program our life planning coordinators will learn how to best support each of our participants and provide them access to tools and resources they can use to develop lifelong practices as they connect with friends, potential employers, volunteer opportunities and learn important life skills through goal setting and one-on-one support.

Navigating Your Community

By offering digital literacy and online learning supports, the CQR Centre will allow our young adults the opportunity to enhance their understanding of the public transit options, use of digital maps and navigation apps for the City of Calgary. We want our young adults to plan outings with friends and research future employment / volunteer opportunities in our community. The digital literacy lab will support our participants and increase their skills needed to live, learn and work in a society where communication and access to information has significantly increased using internet platforms, social media and mobile devices.

Developing Self

Hobbies are important as they often offer relief from a stressful day or occupy times when we are bored. We want to ensure our young adults find meaningful hobbies to occupy their free time that will improve their well-being and create enjoyment and fun. Meaningful hobbies and leisure interests can positively impact our physical, mental and emotional well-being.

Building Relationships

Social Inclusion is often hard to achieve for our vulnerable population. Our program will focus on the key steps to support our young adults with social tools and skills needed to build long lasting and meaningful relationships. Our goal is to provide them with a sense of belonging and prepare them to engage in main stream society as an adult.
